Donald C. Paup

Donald C. "Don" Paup ( born April 2, 1939 in Los Angeles, † August 7, 2012 in Vienna ) was an American badminton player and sports scientists.

Career

Don Paup was one of the dominant U.S. badminton player in the 1970s. His first title dates from 1968, when he won the ongoing open U.S. Championships. Ten more titles followed until 1982. Moreover, he won the South African Open Championships 1971. 1973, he was inducted into the U.S. Badminton Hall of Fame.

Professionally, he worked as a sports scientist. He received the Bachelor of Arts degree at Occidental College and a Master of Science and PhD from Tulane University. As a post-doc, he worked at Michigan State University and the University of California. He was Chair of the Exercise Science Department at the George Washington University in Washington, where he managed the Cardiac Rehab Lab and the Runner's Clinic.
