Donald Rope

Donald Rope ( born February 2, 1929 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, † July 28, 2009 in Cambridge, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. His daughter Patti Rope participated as a gymnast at the Olympic Summer Games 1976 in Montréal.

Career

Donald Rope attended the University of Toronto, where he completed a course of study to become a teacher. Rather than pursue a career as a professional hockey player, he worked until his retirement in 1987 as a teacher. During his time as a teacher, he was extremely engaged and participated in several sports programs. He played amateur hockey and represented Canada with the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen at the Olympic Winter Games in 1956 and 1960.

Internationally

For Canada Rope participated in the Winter Olympics 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo and 1960 in Squaw Valley. At the Winter Games in 1956 he won the bronze at the Winter Games in 1960, the silver medal with his team.
