Donetsk Metro

The Metro Donetsk (Russian Донецкий метрополитен Donezki metropolitans, Ukrainian Донецький метрополітен Donezkyj Metropolitan ) is a not yet finished building project for a metro network in the fifth largest city of Ukraine. The network will consist in the near future from a line with six stations in the distant future, Donetsk have three lines.

Early eighties exceeded the population of Donetsk the million mark and thus entitled the city to build their own metro system, as was customary in the USSR. Initial plans for a secant with three lines on the model of other Soviet metro networks were first introduced in 1984 to the public. However, the implementation of which was delayed. Shortly after the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine adopted on 1 December 1991, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers on December 30, 1991, the decree for the construction of the new subway in Donetsk. The first exploration work began in 1992, construction work started yet on the same year, the finalization in 2002 was planned. In 1995, the city of Donetsk postponed the opening date due to the poor financial situation in 2005. In 2000, the first work for four of the six metro stations began.

As a result, the financial situation deteriorated further, in June 2003 the construction workers went on strike because for seven months no wages had been paid. Until then, a total of 300 million hryvnia (about 48 million euros ) had been spent for the construction of the Donetsk Metro. In part, the city had to announce the completion of work on individual sites, two in the shell almost ready stations had to be preserved, the costs were considerable. In 2004, the Ukrainian Ministry assured more funds for the completion by 2010 of Economy, Transport and Finance. Currently, there are rumors that the construction work are set.

The first underground line of the city of Donetsk, the ( линия Пролетарско - Киевская ) the name Proletarsko - Kievskaya Linija will bear to be 9.6 km long and have six stations whose names Proletarsjaka ( Пролетарская ) Tschumakowskaja ( Чумаковская ), Krasny Gorodok ( Красный городок ) Muschketowskaja ( Мушкетовская ) Lewobereschnaja ( Левобережная ) and Politechnitscheski institute ( Политехнический институт ) should be. This Rajon Budjonowski ( Район Буденовский ) receives a direct connection to the city center of Donetsk.

The future depot for the Donetsk Metro, which is given the name Proletarskoje ( Пролетарское ), located behind the station Krasny Gorodok. Which trains are used on the line, is still unclear, only the frame data or the typical characteristics for ex - Soviet Metros are known. This includes, among other things, the track width of 1524 millimeters ( Russian broad gauge ), the driving voltage of 825 volts and the power supply via power rail.

In the medium to long term, as well as other cities of the former Soviet Union, a metro system with three lines that form a secant condition, Donetsk. By then, the Proletarsko - Kievskaya Linija which receives the characteristic red color, grow to 21 km with 15 stations. In addition, there is a 25 km long blue line with the name Gornjazko - Makejewskaja Linija ( Горняцко - Макеевская линия ) arise, another green line with the name Petrovsko - Krasnogwardeiskaja Linija ( Петровско - Красногвардейская линия ) should have at least 14 stations. In the final state the Donetsk Metro network will be 70 km long and have 46 stations. The naming of the subway lines are generally made by the respective municipalities ( Rajons ) in which the termini of the respective subway line are. So runs the red line with the name Proletarsko - Kievskaya Linija from Rajon Proletarsky to Rajon Kiewski.

Due to lack of funds, it was decided in 2012, the Metro finish for above ground construction until December 2014.
