Donie Cassidy

Daniel " Donie " Cassidy ( born September 15, 1945 in Castlepollard, County Westmeath ) is an Irish politician ( Fianna Fáil ).

1982 Cassidy was first elected for Fianna Fáil Seanad Éireann in the. This he belonged to after several successful re- election until 2002. In the same year he was elected in the constituency of Westmeath in the Dáil Éireann. In the next elections in 2007, however, he could not defend his seat. Instead, he was nominated in the outgoing Seanad Éireann on 22 June 22, 2007 by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to the Senator. The next Senate elections in July took Cassidy to be elected to Seanad Éireann 23. When Senator Cassidy from 1997 to 2002 and again from 2007 to 2011 leader of the government group ( Leader of the Seanad Éireann ).

In addition to his political activities at the national level, he was from 1985 to 2003 in Westmeath County Council and served in this period from 1989 to 1990 as its chairman.

Cassidy is married and has four sons.
