However Escober failed to build on his success at club level, so his team-mate Noel Valladares, with whom he alternates in the league between the posts, with the national team was preferred. The situation changed at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009, which entrusted him with coach Reinaldo Rueda, the space between the post and he offered a strong performance. Despite his good performances in the continental tournament did not succeed Escober to play himself into the starting eleven, so he just spare man behind Valladares was at the Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
