Donji Svilaj

Svilaj Donji is a village in north -east Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to the municipality Odžak. It is practically inhabited by Bosnian Croats, has a primary school and a Catholic church. It borders the River Sava and thus to Croatia. The ferry arrived in Slavonski Svilaj. Two well -built roads lead from here to Odžak and Modriča, one above Nevoljica and Potocani, the other about Novi Grad. In addition, there is a road that leads to Bosanski Brod, which is, however, partly in bad condition. It is planned A1 motorway from Zagreb to Sarajevo, which should lead by Donji Svilaj.

The church was built in 1972 was demolished in the war on 16 July 1992 Bosnian Serb troops and 2000 rebuilt by donations. As part of the demining program of the International Trust Fund 84 mines were a grant from the European Union in 2003 from around Donji Svilaj away.
