Doolin

Doolin (Irish Dúlainn ) is a small fishing village in County Clare in Ireland, on the Atlantic Ocean. It is known as a center of traditional Irish music, which is played almost daily live in the three pubs of the place. However, the need to offer tourists every evening live music, the quality of the sessions greatly reduced. The development Doolins to a music Mecca goes back to the three coming from Doolin Russell brothers Micko, Packie and Gussie back: All even gifted musicians, they organized in the 60s repeatedly sessions in the local pubs, to which they always accept other outstanding musicians from all over Ireland, and later from around the world invited.

The place is divided into two parts: the so-called " Upper Part " ( Ford Road ) has two pubs ( Mc Gann 's, McDermott's ), restaurant, café and a campsite; the other part is " Fisher Street" and is about a kilometer away. Here are the third and oldest pub ( O'Connor ) and shops. The Port of Doolin is located about 1 km west of it - here, there is another campsite. In both parts, there are numerous places to stay.

Especially in the years 2000 to 2004 Doolin grew slowly but steadily - larger systems of holiday homes were built on the outskirts of the village and have taken care of, among other things, that the tourist numbers have risen steadily in recent years.

The river flows through Aille Doolin and flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

Doolin is also known for his two surf spots right on the shore and at the upstream " Crab Iceland " ( picture on the left next to the ferry ).
