Formation

The majority of the songs for Doomsday for the Deceiver was written after the introduction of guitarist Michael Gilbert in February 1985. Subsequently, the band spent a day up to four hours in the rehearsal room to prepare for the shots. The recordings took place in Los Angeles in the Music Grinder Studios. Although Metal Blade CEO Brian Slagel and the band are listed as producers, the main work of Bill Metoyer was done, which is officially listed as a sound engineer.

For the recordings, the band had just two weeks time. Drummer Kelly David -Smith had to take his parts within two days. He was hampered by a sore arm. Overall, the shots cost $ 12,000. The album cover was drawn by Kevin Tyler and shows a green monster that fights the devil. The song She Took to Axe refers to Lizzie Borden, who was initially charged and acquitted of the murder of their parents. The leader is a song against Adolf Hitler.
