Dora the Explorer
Dora ( Dora the Explorer in English ) is an American animated television series of the television channel Nickelodeon.
The series is designed to appeal especially the Latin American population of the United States.
Content
The seven -year-old Dora travels with her monkey Boots and her backpack Backpack around the world. She is a Latina and speaks English and Spanish. During her travels, she experiences with different people adventure and helping them to solve puzzles.
In the German version of Dora and her friends speak German and English. Order to provide their pre-school children the basics of the English language (numbers, directions, simple words ) may be requested. The program is used for bilingual preschool education.
Characters
- Dora is a Latina girl who discovers the world with their friends. Dora is very helpful and the main reason of their travels is to help their friends.
- Boots is a little monkey and Dora's best friend. He proves to be very willing to cooperate and is always with Dora. Characteristic of him are his red shoes, according to its own statement, a special production.
- Swiper is a fox mugger who like to steal things and then hidden. Although he is often very cruel to the main characters, he proves to be Dora's friend, and when he sees the consequences of his act, he tries to make it up with Dora. Characteristic of it is always the " bss, bss, bss " always sounds when he wants to steal something.
- Backpack is a talking backpack always has what Dora and Boots need. Characteristic of him is his " Delicious" which he says that if Dora the stuff again will stow in it.
- Map is a speaking card, which almost always plugged into backpacks right pocket. He knows his stuff in orientation from best.
- The Party Trio is a musical edge trio consisting of a worm, a grasshopper and a frog. When Dora and Boots are past an obstacle, they always play the melody victories.
- Tiko is an English ( speaking spanish in original) squirrels. Tiko is the expert on getting around, but he can not understand Dora mostly.

In each episode of the series educational elements are incorporated.
Publication
The pilot episode was broadcast in 1999 in the United States. On August 14, 2000 launched the first season of the series. For the character of Diego in 2003 a separate series called Go, Diego, Go! produced.
Telemundo broadcast the series in Spanish. Overall, Dora has been translated into 15 languages. Here, a bilingualism was maintained with English in most translations. In Germany, the series airs regularly in the program window Nick Jr. the private broadcaster Nick under the name Dora.
Synchronization
Gerrit Schmidt- Foss and Gundi Eberhard are responsible for the German setting, which together lead the dialogue director and also speaking supporting roles in the series.
Merchandise
With the characters of the series DVDs, figurines, cosmetics, bags, books, dolls, board games and other toys were brought out. 2005 Game Dora the Explorer appeared: Journey to the Purple Planet for the Playstation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube. This brought to market for Series Merchandise since 2001 alone brought in 2004 a billion dollars in sales, more than 3 billion.
More Releases and Events
Nickelodeon organized theater performances to Dora under the titles Dora City of Lost Toys and Dora 's Pirate Adventure. This Dora was played in the first production of Christina Bianco, in the second of Danay Ferrer. In both pieces was the finale the song Get On Your Feet by Gloria Estefan. The pieces were written by Chris Gifford, directed by Gip Hoppe.
In 2008 there were plans to produce a live-action film.
The Children's Museum of Manhattan for an exhibition series was organized, there is also a travel show called La Casa de Dora.

As part of Nickelodeon Join in action! supports Nickelodeon Germany since 2008 under the motto Help Dora to help charitable projects in Germany.
