The 4300 m high Dorah or Dorahpass connects the district Zibak with Chitral in Pakistan and overcomes the Hindu Kush.

This pass had to control great importance during the Soviet invasion, because they failed to transport weapons and the movements of the Mujahideen and stop. The pass was also an escape route to Chitral.

The Dorah Pass was in the last 30 years of great economic importance for the region, since about gemstones like emeralds and lapis lazuli as well as food and livestock to be transported.

The Chitral district is accessible only by four mountain passes or from Afghanistan over the Kunartal. The other passes are the Lovari pass, Broghol Pass and the Shandur Pass, which leads to Gilgit in Pakistan. In the spring of 2010, the 8.6 km long Lovari tunnel to be completed, which will produce a weather connection.
