Dorothea of Denmark, Electress Palatine

Dorothea of ​​Denmark and Norway ( * November 10, 1520, † May 31 1580 in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz) was the wife of Elector Frederick II of the Palatinate.

Her parents were King Christian II of Denmark and Norway and Isabella of Austria, the daughter of King Philip I of Spain.

1535 married in Heidelberg Elector Frederick II of the Palatinate. The wedding festivities at the Heidelberg Castle was described by Peter Harer in a detailed poem.

Dorothea was employed at the electoral court its own preacher named Otmar rod (around 1507-1585 ). After her husband's death she lived in the Castle of the Counts Palatine in Neumarkt, among other things prevented them there also the introduction of Protestantism, the Count Palatine and Elector Otto Heinrich (Pfalz ) successfully in the Duchy of Pfalz- Neuburg and in 1556 in the Palatinate drove forward.

She died childless and was buried in the Holy Ghost Church in Heidelberg with her husband.
