Dorothea von Stetten Art Award
The Dorothea von Stetten Art Prize is a biennial award since 1984 Art Prize, which explicitly sees itself as a prize for young artists.
Conditions
The funded artists are not yet to have reached the age of 36, however, already have their work interesting prospects and development opportunities. An application for this prize is not possible. Candidates for the Dorothea von Stetten Art Price put forward by five independent art experts. Subsequently, a jury will select among the five proposed artists from the support of the Art Prize. This jury consists of five independent art experts, none of whom may belong to the nominating committee. Following his conception turns the price itself, endowed with 10,000 €, to a younger generation of artists who still does not have an international reputation.
The award is associated with a group exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bonn, on which not only the actual winners and the four other nominated artists.
History and Future
The price will be equipped with means of Dorothea von Stetten Foundation. The Board of Trustees of the founder had time with their own lives. She died on August 7, 2011 in Bonn. For the future, the Board of Trustees cable is attached to the city of Bonn.
Of the former laureates, several artists such as Thomas Florschuetz or Gregor Schneider have received an increasing importance in the international art world in the following years.
