Dorothea Wendling

Maria Dorothea Wendling - Spurni and Wendling, born Spurni ( born March 21, 1736, in Stuttgart, † August 20, 1811 in Munich) was a German soprano.

Born Spurni was one of the most famous opera singers of her time. During her time at the court theater in Mannheim since 1752 it counted already since the 60s to the local prima donnas and married in 1756 the composer and flautist Johann Baptist Wendling. From their marriage and their daughter Elisabeth Augusta, " Gustl ", which later became a singer was also derived. During her time as court singer at Cuvilliés Theatre in Munich, she gave many well-known singers of the time, including Catherine Lang, Elisabeth Carnoli and probably Franziska Lebrun, singing lessons.
