The Bahnhof Dortmund- Horde is a passenger station in the district of Dortmund Horde.

He belongs to the collections of the Deutsche Bahn AG and was built on the Dortmund- Soest railway. The station had an important function especially for mines and iron works as a freight depot. During the Second World War, the old station was destroyed and replaced by a purpose-built in 1955. The Freight uses the route since 2002 only as a through connection, but several times a day.

General

The two island platforms of the station were covered and were accessible by a pedestrian tunnel. There are still at the access points no elevators, people in wheelchairs can use the platforms thus far achieved only with the help of others. Due to the low platform height is a large difference in height between the platform edge and Zugtreppe revealed when embarking and disembarking from the trains, which is perceived by the elderly, and persons with a disability as unpleasant.

Modernization of the station

A modernization of the station was planned for years, the preparation of the reconstruction was extremely tedious. Short term came revival in the project, as in 2006 an architectural firm presented plans for a spectacular renovation. However, this proposal failed due to several factors. Through the application of the Phoenix Lake near the station at that time was hoped that new incentives for renovation, as the train station then on the basis of so was hoped, increased tourist and passenger traffic would receive a higher importance in the Deutsche Bahn.

On 14 December 2009, the groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of the station Horder took place. The work will then continue until the summer or fall of 2011. The measures included, inter alia, the raising of the platforms, the construction of three elevators, setting up a passenger information system for the mobility impaired passengers and the renewal of the access tunnel. The old station building will be demolished. In their place will be built by an investor zweigeschössiges a new building with row of shops and a grocery store including parking deck. On 29 March 2011 the demolition of the dilapidated function construction began in the 1950s.

Meanwhile, the extensive construction works have been completed on the two platforms. Also, the island platform of the tracks 1 and 2 has been rebuilt and is again available (as of November 2011). He was raised to the normal height of 76 cm above SO. However, he has neither a lift or direct access to the bridge. It is accessible only through the partially completed tunnel platform and the platform of the tracks 3 and 4. The island platform of the tracks 3 and 4 has already been brought to the standard height of 76 cm. This results in only after completion of construction ( and re-opening of the pedestrian tunnel ) a barrier -free entry and exit in all there holding trains, as this platform in April 2012 by stairs only is reachable ( from the bridge ). The temporary platform 5, which was not accessible from the bridge, but only over the road sign and a further staircase access, has been dismantled. The actual station building with its many commercial uses located in the development and construction phase is already largely completed in April 2012. The connection in the station building from the platform tunnel to the public road is almost completely finished. However, the road has in front of the new building at the time not even on a temporary sidewalk. Only after the implementation of the road construction works use a this station access is possible. The two elevators in the platform tunnel and the elevator in the station building are also not yet been built.

The old station was registered as a historic landmark in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund. However, this did not prevent the demolition of the old station building and the establishment of a substantially different building including the complete redevelopment of the entire station forecourt.
