Douglas Day Stewart

Douglas Day Stewart (* January 1940 ) is an American screenwriter, film producer and film director.

Life

Douglas Day Stewart entered 1962, the United States Navy as at and succeeded after three years of service in which he was used in the Vietnam War, to the Officer Of the Deck. After studying at the University of Southern California, Stewart wrote in 1971 for the TV series a script for an episode. Stewart also adapted the novel The Blue Lagoon to the love movie The Blue Lagoon, before he recorded his own time in the Navy for the film An Officer and a Gentleman. The romantic drama with Richard Gere and Debra Winger in the lead roles was his biggest success so far. He was honored with a 1983 Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
