16th Golden Raspberry Awards
The Golden Raspberry Awards 1996 ( 16th Annual Razzie Awards) was awarded on 24 March 1996, the eve of the Academy Awards at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
The film Showgirls received a total of seven Golden Raspberries, including the award for the worst movie. Previously Showgirls had already been nominated most frequently and holds with 13 nominations at the Golden Raspberry 1996 to date the record for the most nominations.
Paul Verhoeven as a director of Showgirls personally came to the ceremony to accept his award.
