Douwe Eisenga

Douwe Eisenga (* 1961 in Apeldoorn) is a Dutch composer. His best known work is the Requiem Aeternam 1953, a 50th anniversary of the flood disaster of 1953 on behalf of the Dutch government created composition.

Life

Eisenga began in the 1980s to write a self-taught music for theater, film and video productions. From 1990 to 1996 he studied composition with Julius Ament and Wim Dirriwachter on the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen.

In recent years, he wrote various works, among others, for the Xenakis Ensemble, Francis B. Quartet pianist Gerard Bouwhuis or and Marcel Worms. Published in 1999 his CD Rivius II with Rien Balkenende at the piano. In 2001, Worms iron gas piece Growing worm, stabbing his back -part slowly into the blues into his CD More new blues for piano. In the same year Eisenga resulted in Vlissingen in the context of Zeeland Nazomer Festival ( Zeeland Autumn Festival ) his chamber music piece premiered kabaal ( Kabale ) via the Dutch admiral and naval hero Michiel de Ruyter ( 1606-1676 ).

2003 Requiem Aeternam 1953 premiered a work for choir and orchestra at the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the floods of 1953. In the same year had to be written on behalf of the Foundation for New Music Piano Concerto ( part 3 ) Release and was performed by Gerard Bouwhuis and the Xenakis Ensemble, Yokohama. 2004 a large part of his oeuvre was performed in a concert at the Centre for New Music in Zeeland.

Iron gas plant is anchored, in the pop music of his generation. He makes no distinction between pop songs, twelve-tone techniques, baroque music or Eastern-inspired cyclic templates and knows how to combine these different elements in his compositions.

Since 1993 Eisenga lives in Zeeland.
