Although the white rocks of the vicinity were inhabited since the Neolithic period, could be detected until the second half of the 13th century in the castle grounds itself a permanent human presence. The actual founding of the weir is, however, usually placed at the beginning of the 15th century and attributed to the Hussites, who had created with the castle after a damaligem state of weapons technology almost impregnable base on the Iser. After the battle of Lipan in 1434 the Hussites should have left the place. However, contradicted by the presumably Catholic character of the chapel with a shrine carved in stone. Two younger rooms from the 17th century show an occasional use as emergency shelter during the Thirty Years' War.

The plant can be visited and has become a popular tourist destination, which has a negative impact on the conservation status. The sunk into the soft sandstone areas are exposed to increasing erosion. In 1950, therefore, a 16 -square-foot model of the castle on a scale of 1:17 was made, which is located in Mnichovo Hradiště in the municipal museum.
