The legend of the Dreifürstenstein

Admits became the Dreifürstenstein by a romantic legend: the three Princes of Fürstenberg, Württemberg and Hohenzollern met once a Dreifürstenstein to advise. Here, a round table was placed over the landmark. Each of the three princes, who were sitting at the table, thus remained on its territory. This table should have been made of sandstone and is mentioned in a Beuren local chronicle from the year 1867.

On special occasions, on the Dreifürstenstein, such as during festivals of the Swabian Alp Association, the meeting of the princes is often replayed.

Probably the saga has only emerged in 1850. Around this time, only turns up on the term Dreifürstenstein. Until the 18th century, the name was in use sharp corner of the place. Gustav Schwab also mentioned in his Albführer The Neckar side of the Swabian Alb from 1823, in which he describes the Alb and associated legends, neither the Dreifürstenstein still is that story. Presumably, the Sage mid-19th century was built as part of the return and the enthusiasm for the Middle Ages.

At this time the triple border no longer existed. As a result of the reorganization of territories in the southwest of Germany by Emperor Napoleon I, the prince bergische area was added to the Prince of Hohenzollern - Hechingen in 1806 on Dreifürstenstein.
