The Directorate Dresden district was the successor of the administrative district of Dresden in Saxony. The administration has called Directorate Dresden. This Safety Authority was established as part of the Saxon administrative reorganization and the district reform of Saxony in 2008 on 1 August 2008. On March 1, 2012, she went on in the new Saxon State Directorate.

The official title of President of the Government is changed by the Saxon administrative reorganization law in President of the State Directorate.

History

Since the mid -19th century there were in the kingdom of Saxony government funding authorities at the time were called "Circle home teams " and in the course of the story several times changed its limits. The administrative district of Dresden dates back to the county captaincy Bautzen and the county captaincy of Dresden, which were in 1932 merged into county captaincy Dresden- Bautzen. In 1939 she was renamed in Regierungsbezirk Dresden- Bautzen. After the Second World War should first back government districts will be built, but this intention was abandoned in 1947.

After dissolution of the states within the country districts were established in 1952 in accordance with the centralized organizing principle, but they were hardly comparable in function to today's administrative districts. The Dresden State Directorate comprised largely since the area of the district of Dresden. On 1 January 2008, the then government district included three county-level cities and 201 municipalities in eight counties. The regional council was transformed into the State Directorate as part of the district reform in Saxony in 2008.

The President of the State Directorate Henry Hare plow was appointed in December 2010 to the Secretary of State in the Saxon State Ministry of Science and Art. Since its inauguration on June 1, 2011 took Gökelmann Dietrich, President of Chemnitz county, the functions of the presidents of the provincial divisions of Dresden and Leipzig true to the formation of the new regional office in Saxony in March 2012.

Administrative headquarters

The headquarters of the State Directorate Dresden was in the Albert City in a former barracks building (Kaiser - Grenadier -Kaserne ), which was originally the Grenadier Regiment "Kaiser Wilhelm, King of Prussia " (2nd Royal Saxon ) No 101 the Saxon army in Dresden housed. There, now resides the department Dresden Saxon State Directorate. Branches of the government are to be found in Görlitz and Bautzen.
