DRG H 02 1001

When H 02 1001, it was a high-pressure steam locomotive which was built 1929/1930 according to the system of Stephan Loeffler. The locomotive was returned after unsatisfactory running trials in 1934 by the German Reichsbahn ( DR) to the Manufacturer BMAG and 1945 scrapped.

History

At the Technische Hochschule Berlin -Charlottenburg developed Professor Stephan Loeffler (1877-1929) a 120 - atm - high pressure boiler. The BMAG acquired the rights to his patent for use in steam locomotives. It was hoped that through the high pressure system carbon savings of 42%. In Wildau you installed the high-pressure boiler on the chassis of the 01 011

The recently completed locomotive was presented in 1930 at the World Conference in Berlin to a professional audience. In a test run by the Locomotive Experimental Bureau Grunewald burst a Überhitzrohr without causing major damage arose. One problem proved the leaky piston rings and glands of the high pressure cylinder. During the test runs were frequent disturbances, so that the locomotive had to be repeated towed. The carbon savings were only at 20 % compared to the control engine.

The DR took the locomotive H 02 1001 not starting. The experiments were terminated in 1934 and the locomotive returned to the manufacturer. By the summer of 1945, they stood at the premises of Wildau BMAG, then it was scrapped.
