Droisy (Haute-Savoie)

Droisy is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Droisy is located on 660 m above sea level. M., near Seyssel, some 21 km west-northwest of the city of Annecy ( straight line ). The farming village extends a scenic location on a high plateau, a northern foothills of the Montagne des Princes, east of the broad valley basin of the Rhone, in Genevois.

The area of ​​4.55 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western Genevois. The central area is occupied by the plateau of Droisy. To the north the municipality area extends into the little valley of the Ruisseau de Findreuze (page stream of Usses ). To the south extends the municipality of soil over a densely wooded hillside down to the broad crest of the Montagne des Princes, on the 941 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Droisy is achieved.

Neighboring communities of Droisy are Desingy in the north, Clermont and Crempigny - Bonneguête in the east, Val -de- Fier in the south and Seyssel in the West.

History

Droisy is first documented in the early 15th century. The place-name ( [ fundus ] Drausiacus ) goes to the Gallo-Roman personal name Drausius and means something like estate of Drausius.

Population

With 160 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Droisy one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Savoie. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still in Droisy counted 182 inhabitants). Since the early 1960s, only small variations in the population were recorded.

Economy and infrastructure

Droisy is a predominantly coined by farming village today. Outside of the primary sector there are no other jobs in the village. Some of the working population commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Seyssel to Clermont.
