The species belongs to the section Drosera zonaria Erythrorhizae in the genus Sundew ( Drosera ). This carnivorous plant is native to southwestern Australia.

Description

Drosera zonaria grows as a perennial herbaceous plant that has a reduced height and a diameter of about 5 cm. This carnivorous plant forms tubers as outlasting. In greater numbers, the leaves standing together in a small basal rosette of leaves, partly directly above the other. The relatively long petioles are completely obscured by the overlapping sheets usually. The leaf blade is kidney-shaped with a diameter of about 2 cm.

Drosera zonaria blossoms rare. The Blütenstandsschäfte grow from the center of the leaf rosette and bear two to three flowers. The relatively small flowers are radial symmetry and fünfzählig. The five petals are white.

Occurrence

Drosera zonaria is located in the southwestern Australia.

In the summer months the location of Drosera zonaria usually dries completely from the plant survived this drought as underground tuber and drives in the wetter autumn and winter months again. It grows preferably water permeable sandy soils.
