Geography

The lake is located about four kilometers south of the town of Mölln, but belongs to the municipality Lehmrade in the Official Gudow - Sterley, district Duchy of Lauenburg. It closes in the north to the location south of Mölln Hellbachtal, and is also the first lake in the chain of lakes Möllner.

The lake is a nature reserve and is located in Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park. A vehicular access to the lake with recreational boats is not permitted.
