The Dubai is a mega - yacht owned by the Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of the emirate of Dubai. The 162 -meter-long yacht is at number 3 on the list of the longest motor yachts.

History

The Dubai was given in 1995 under different project names ( " Panhandle ", " Golden Star " ) commissioned and originally built in collaboration with the German shipyards Blohm Voss and Lürssen. In 1997, the construction contract was however stopped by the client and went in 2001 to the new owner, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of the emirate of Dubai. The ship along with floating dock was transported to the Blue Marlin on Turkey to Dubai. The Dubai-based Platinum Yachts FZCO yard built the ship under the name Platinum on and handed it over to the owner in 2006. The yacht was 162 feet long in the years 2006 to 2009 the largest mega yacht in the world, but was in the June 12, 2009, superseded by the built also at B V Eclipse, with a hull length of 163 meters.

Equipment

The design of the ship was designed by " Andrew Winch Designs ". Facilities include, among others, a helipad for helicopters up to a maximum of 9.5 tonnes, and a swimming pool on deck. The Dubai is divided into eight decks and can accommodate up to 88 crew members and 115 guests. The four MTU 20V diesel engines deliver each 6,301 kW and can propel the ship at up to 26 knots. With the 1.2 million liter diesel tank which Dubai is able to cover a distance of 8,500 nautical miles.
