Dublin Airport Authority

The Dublin Airport Authority PLC1 ( until 1 October 2004 Aer Rianta CPT2 ) is the national airport authority of the Republic of Ireland. The company also includes the Great Southern hotels, of which there are nine on the island of Ireland. The company is based in Dublin.

The Dublin Airport Authority is responsible for the following Irish airports:

  • Cork Airport - ORK code
  • Dublin Airport - DUB Code
  • Shannon Airport - SNN code

Aer Rianta

The company was founded in 1937 as Aer Rianta, Teoranta3. The ( Irish ) name is derived from air ( air ways ). The company was until 1969 the shareholders of Aer Lingus. Aer Rianta had but the control of the Dublin Airport since its opening, is only since 1969 responsible for Cork and Shannon. In 1998, the name was changed to Aer Rianta cpt.

Aer Rianta International

Aer Rianta International ( ARI) is a subsidiary of the Dublin Airport Authority, which was established in 1988 as part of Aer Rianta.

The company is involved beside the airport in Dublin at the airports in Birmingham, Dusseldorf and Hamburg, and also operates the duty-free shops in the airports in Moscow and other states in the Middle East and North America.

State Airports Act, 2004

2004 saw the so-called State Airports Act into force of Aer Rianta cpt renamed Dublin Airport Authority plc and prevented the privatization of authority.
