The Duborg - Skole and only opened in 2008, AP Møller- Skolen in Schleswig are the only Danish high schools south of the border.

History

1920, the future Duborg - Skole was provisionally established in Hjemmet in St. Mary's street in Flensburg as a junior high school ( in the same building is now Det lille Teater ). However, it soon became clear that the construction of the then 108 students was too small. Therefore, the foundation stone was laid for a larger school on the present site on 31 March 1922. The building was designed and built by architect Andreas Dall Bausttil in homeland security. The building was erected on the Marienberg, where little further south the Duburg stood. On April 16, 1923, the construction was completed. The school received in this new site its name: Duborg Skolen. However, on the built-up area was in ancient times, only the atrium and a portion of the gatehouse, where the horses and servants were housed. The striking, actual building of Duburg lay further south, where also that building of the castle - Duburg school in the twenties - Municipal trade schools as well as a Mietwohnausgruppe were built. Nevertheless, the Danish Duborg Skolen after Duburg and the homonymous municipality Duburg was named, but just in the Danish form of the word, namely Duborg. So sometimes leads the thoughtful name yet, nowadays to misunderstandings about the exact bearing of the former Duburg. The school was founded as already mentioned as a Danish secondary school. Only in 1958 it was recognized as a high school. When the school again became too small, it was expanded in 1979 by a modern building on the north side. By the school year 2007/2008 the school was a pure high school. Today the school is a community school (Danish Fællesskole ) with gymnasialem superstructure. The number of students has almost halved after the opening of the Danish high school in Schleswig in recent years.
