Simon Faber

Simon Faber ( born September 11, 1968 in Flensburg ) is a German politician (SSW ) and since January 15, 2011 Lord Mayor of the city of Flensburg.

Life

Faber put 1987 Abitur at the Danish School in Flensburg. After the civil service, he studied at the University and at the Conservatory of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, the subjects German and musicology. By activity in a Danish publisher he was from 2002 to 2004 chief secretary of the director of the Radio Orchestra of Danmarks Radio.

Since 2004 he has been living in Flensburg. He was until 2010 the Danish Parliament worked as a political officer cultural of the Danish minority in Germany.

The South Schleswig Voters' Association nominated him in May 2010 as a candidate for the mayoral elections in Flensburg on October 31, 2010. He was on the first ballot with 19.4 % of the vote in second place behind Elfi Heesch (CDU and Alliance 90/The Greens, 25.1% ) and before Thede Boysen (SPD, 18.2%). In the second ballot on 21 November 2010, he was able to win with 54.8 % of the vote against Elfi Heesch ( 45.2 %).

Faber appeared on 15 January 2011 is the successor of the former Lord Mayor Klaus Tscheuschner who did not stand again.

Objectives

Faber sees the situation Flensburg near the Danish border as its greatest opportunity. That's why he wants to cooperate more closely with Denmark than in the past.
