Dubuisson Brewery

The Dubuisson Brewery is a Belgian brewery. It is the oldest brewery in the Walloon Region.

The brewery became internationally known due to their particular brands of beer "Bush" and " Cuvée des Trolls ". In some countries, Bush beer is marketed as " Scaldis ".

History

1769 Dubuisson brewery was founded in Pipaix. Joseph Leroy, one of the maternal ancestors of the present chiefs had once built on the present site Pipaix a large farm; there he also built the Dubuisson brewery. At this time, Joseph Leroy was brewmaster at the Hall Ghissegnies and head of its brewery operation, which was directly opposite the brewery today. Joseph Leroy paid no taxes, but had to put in his landlord accountable. In 1769, however, brought Maria Theresa of Austria taxes on all breweries; even the landlord belonged to such. Since the Dubuisson brewery now had no more benefits, she moved to the other side of the road ( in a place that was not determined by the manor ) to be independent.

The farm - brewery, which had brewed at that time only for farm workers and villagers, led their production until the year 1932 on. Then the farm - brewery was bought by Alfred and Amédée Dubuisson, who wanted to rebuild the brewery into a commercially driven companies. The year 1933 is considered the birth of the "Bush Beer": a beer that both the Belgian and the English taste combines ( English were the beers in Belgium quite popular at that time ). The name is also a tribute to ales; it originates from the English, but still contains spite of all the name of the Belgian brewery. The beer helped the Dubuisson brewery to international fame.

In 1991, the Bush Christmas beer ( "Bush de Noël ) was created; a beer that was brewed especially for the celebrations at the end of the year. Due to the abundant use of caramel malt the Christmas Bush beer takes on a darker color and is copper-colored.

1994, on the occasion of the 225th anniversary of the brewery, the beer "Bush -7" was introduced on the market. It has an alcohol content of 7.5 %, in contrast to the traditional bush - beer, which has an alcohol content of 12%. In 1996, the "Bush Beer " in " amber Bush beer" ( " Bush Amber " ) has been renamed. In 2000, the " Cuvée des Trolls " beer appeared, and in 2003 a new brand was included in the product range: the beer "Bush Prestige".

The Dubuisson Brewery has introduced numerous innovations and invested in recent years: first in the expansion of the beer - range ( the beer was sold in Belgium and in over 30 other countries around the world ); then in the recent establishment of two micro - breweries ( in 2000 in Louvain- la -Neuve and in 2003 in Mons ), and finally in a new visitor center in the town Pipaix; this includes, among other things:

  • A brewery museum
  • A tavern ( " Trolls & Bush " )
  • A gift shop
  • A small cafeteria
