Brewery

As a brewery is called in the broadest sense means, are produced in the composite liquids, usually with the help of the fermentation. Brewery specifies the location or the building ( brewery ), are brewed on the beer or other Gärgetränke. Brewery also referred to the company that manufactures and sells beer. History

In the field of German brewing control community ( this is not included: Kingdom of Bavaria, Kingdom of Württemberg, Grand Duchy of Baden, Alsace- Lorraine and Luxembourg ) were in 1879 a total of 12,743 breweries present, of which 10,117 commercial and 1,750 non-commercial, together ie 11,867 were in operation, while 875 rested.

While in 1872, 14,157 in breweries 16,102,179 hectoliters of beer were produced, there were in 1878 /79 only 11,867 breweries 20,371,925 hectoliters of beer. For the entire German Empire, the beer Quantum produced was given this year to around 38.464 million hectoliters.

Austria - Hungary in 1879 produced 11,180,681 hectoliters of beer breweries in 2297, around 1878 to 142 763 hectoliters less. As for the other countries, as produced in hectoliters of Great Britain and Ireland: 45,000,000, Belgium: 7.866 million, France: 7,500,000 Russia: 2.214 million, Holland: 1.528 million hectoliters.

In the United States, where the end of the 19th century it was confined only to the production of porter and ale, slowly spreading the brewery from Bavarian and Austrian beers; it was there in 1875 already 2783 breweries operate.

In Brazil and in Japan there were individual breweries in the 19th century. The brewing came on the German colonial engagement in the Chinese Empire. To date, active the Tsingtao Brewery was founded in 1903.

Since the mid- 1990s, the number of breweries operating in Germany is largely unchanged ( 1995: 1282 2003: 1275 2006: 1289 2010: 1325 ). However, on closer inspection shifts significantly. Thus, only in the small breweries ( with an annual production of less hl 5000 ) recorded an increase ( 1995: 643 2003: 773 2006: 822 2010: 901).
