Duchesne is a place and the administrative seat of Duchesne County, Utah.

Geography

The site covers an area of 6.0 km ² ( 2.3 mi ²). Duchesne is located at the confluence of the Strawberry River and the Duchesne River in the Uinta Basin in northeastern Utah.

History

The entire country of Duchesne County and West Uintah County was once the land of the Ute Indians and part of their reservation. The dealer AM Murdock got from the administration of the contract to build a post office. So Duchesne was born; received the name from the near Duchesne River. On January 1, 1915, the eastern part of Wasatch County was separated, and was Duchesne County. The County residents determined by vote Duchesne City as the new County seat
