Duchy of GÅ‚ubczyce

The dukedom was created in 1377 by Leobschutz division of the Duchy of Opava. It is named after the city Leobschutz, which was first mentioned in 1224 and belonged to Moravia. It was founded by Ottokar I. Přemysl and came to the Duchy of Opava later. The Dukes of Leobschutz came from the Opava branch of the Bohemian Přemyslids.

History

After the death of the Duke Nicholas II in 1365, the Duchy of Opava was initially managed by the eldest son of Johann I, as the sole heir of the Duchy Ratibor received simultaneously and thus the progenitor of Přemyslidischen lineage Opava - Ratibor was.

In the 1377 made ​​division of the Duchy Opava John I remained in the exclusive possession of Ratibor and also received the Troppauer areas Jägerndorf and Freudenthal. His younger brothers and I. Wenzel Přemysl / premko I received the eastern area with the towns of Opava Opava and Hultschin and the castles Gratz and Landek. After Přemysl / Primislaus I. Leobschutz death in 1433 was his son Wenceslas II († 1445/47 ), from which it was inherited by his sons John I " Hanus " and Johann II " Pius ". After Johann / Hanus ' s death in 1454 whose share came to Johann / Pius, who died around 1485. Since he had no children, King Matthias Corvinus pulled the Duchy Leobschutz a fief as a completed and transferred it then along with the Duchy of Opava his son, John Corvinus.

After the First Silesian War in 1742 Leobschutz coincided with the northern part of the Duchy of Opava to Prussia, and as a result of the Second World War in 1945 to Poland.
