John I, Duke of Opava-Ratibor

John I of Opava (also: John I of Opava - Ratibor; Czech: Jan I. Ratibořský; Hanus also Ratibořský; * to 1322; † around 1380/1382 ) was from 1365-1380/82 Duke of Ratibor 1367 - 1377 together with his brothers Nicholas III. , Wenceslas I and Přemysl / Primislaus I. Life

His parents were Nicholas II of Opava and Anna, a sister of the last Piast Ratiborer Lestko. His marriage to Anne of Ratibor the father got 1336/1337 on the hitherto Piast Duchy Ratibor.

Since John was the only child of the first marriage of his father with Anna Ratibor, he inherited after the death of his father in 1365, the Duchy of Ratibor as sole heir.
