The Duck River ( engl. "Duck River " ) is a river in Sydney, Australia.

The river rises in the suburbs Birrong and ends after about 7 km in the district of Sydney's Silverwater into the Parramatta River. It was named in 1788 due to the many ducks in this area.

Fauna

In addition to the eponymous duck ( eyebrow duck, mallard (introduced ) and Australian White-throated duck) still live numerous other birds in and around the Duck River Among the mammals are found in addition to the ordinary ring marsupials and the Grey-headed flying foxes and animals from the Old World ( domestic cat, house rat and red fox next to) were also found in reptiles and amphibians.
