Duel Masters

Duel Masters (Japaneseデュエル·マスターズ) is a manga series published since 1999. Based on this a collectible card game company Wizards of the Coast and several anime television series was produced in 2002.

Action

The 13 -year-old boy Shobu Kirifuda (切札 胜 舞) wants a Kaijudo master be master of a card game to follow in the footsteps of his missing father. To achieve his goal, he is opposed by a number of powerful and unusual duelists. His greatest enemies are Kyoshiro Kokujō (黒 城 凶死 郎) and Hakuo (白 凰). Also, there are opponents who do not play by the rules. But with his friends Rekuta Kadoko (角 古 れく 太), Sayuki Manaka (真 中 纱 雪), Mimi Tasogare (黄昏 ミミ) and Knight (ナイト, Naito ) comes Shobu closer to his goal and also learns to know the game better.

Publications

Manga

The manga series of the mangaka Shigenobu Matsumoto was released in Japan in issues 5/1999 and 3/ 2005 single chapters in the manga magazine CoroCoro Comic, which is aimed at elementary school students. The publisher Shogakukan moved these individual chapters in 17 anthologies ( tankōbon ).

The following issue 4/2005 then started with Duel Masters FE (デュエル·マスターズFE ), where FE stands for Fighting Edge, which ran until issue 6 /2008. From 26 August 2005 to 27 November 2008, the chapters were compiled in 12 volumes.

It again immediately afterwards followed up 3/2011 Duel Masters SX (デュエル·マスターズSX ), where SX stands for Starcross, which was summarized in nine anthologies of 26 February 2009 to 25 April 2011.

Game

It is a simplified version of the card game Magic: The Gathering, to make the game attractive for younger players. The card game is designed for two or more players, it is played with creatures and spells.

Anime

From 2002 by Shogakukan Productions ( ShoPro ) were produced several anime series that have been carried out by different animation studios. The director was always Waruo Suzuki.

The first series was first broadcast on 21 October 2002 to 4 April 2003 the first children's program Oha Suta on TV Tokyo and the second half on the transmitter Kids Station.

The program Oha Suta block ran from April 2004 to March 2006 was the 52- part series Duel Masters Charge (デュエル·マスターズ チャージ) of 10 April 2006 to 23 March 2007, the 24 - part series Shinseiki Duel Masters Flash (新星 輝 デュエル ·マスターズ フラッシュ) and from 9 April 2007 until September 28, 2007, the 12 - part series Duel Masters Zero (ゼロ デュエル·マスターズ).

The first two series were animated by Studio Hibari, Season 1 additionally in cooperation with and ACGT, Duel Masters Duel Masters Charge to Zero by SynergySP and from Duel Masters Cross by Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment.

U.S. processing

The first 65 episodes were adapted from Cartoon Network for the U.S. market, while heavily edited. The act was changed and comedy -like designed in the typical or perceived Anime cliche being targeted, integrated U.S. pop cultural references or the fourth wall was broken through, for example, notes in the Shobu that the camera is too close or complained about the script. In addition, split-screens and aspect were added with Shōbus missing father figure. Also, the term originates Kaijudo derived from Kaiju, although a Japanese word from the English language version and does not occur in Japanese. The U.S. version was also adopted by RTL 2 for the German market.

In addition, the series was also broadcast in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Danish and Tagalog on TV.

Synchronization

Movies

At Duel Masters appeared three movies.

On 12 March 2005 arrived in Japan the anime film Duel Masters: Curse of the Death Phoenix (デュエル·マスターズ 闇 の 城 の 魔 龍凰( ·オブ·ザ·カースデス フェニックス) Dyueru Masutāzu: Kasu obu za Desufenikkusu ) as Double Feature with Rockman.exe: Hikari to Yami no Program to the movies. Although the title of English is pronounced, meaning " The Curse of the Death Phoenix", but does the title written " The Demon Dragon Huang of the castle of darkness." The film was produced by the same team and studio as the first TV series.

The second movie was followed on 19 September 2009 Duel Masters: Lunatic God Saga (デュエル·マスターズ 黒 月 の 神帝(ルナティック· ·ゴッドサーガ) Dyueru Masutāzu: Runatikku Goddo Saga ) as a double feature with Penguin no Mondai: Shiawase no Aoi Tora de Gopennasai. The 3D film was animated by Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment.

The third feature film Duel Masters: Hono no Kizuna XX! (デュエル·マスターズ 炎 の キズナXX (ダブル クロス) Dyueru Masutāzu: ! Hono no Kizuna Daburu Kurosu ) then joined on August 21, 2010. Again, this was back as a double feature, this time with Metal Fight Beyblade vs. Taiyo: Shakunetsu no Shinryakusha Sol Blaze.

American comic

In the U.S., produced by Dreamwave Productions comic to Duel Masters has been published.
