Duman (band)

Duman is a Turkish alternative rock band.

Further, the band gained fame after - during the protests in Istanbul on June 1, 2013, the song Eyvallah published to draw attention to the great suffering.

Band History

Foundation

Beginning of the 1990s founded Kaan Tangöze (vocals) and Ari Barokas ( electric bass), the rock band Mad Madame. A short time later Kaan Tangöze traveled to Seattle to study there. During his stay he wrote pieces for an album that he wanted to record in Turkey. However, out of longing were all pieces in Turkish. After his return, established the two musicians together with Batuhan Mutlugil (guitar), the group Duman.

Already with their first album Eski Köprünün altinda Duman were very successful. After initially varying the percussionists in Turkey very successful Alen Konakoğlu played more often with the band and was after the second album Belki Alışman Lazim, the fourth member of the group.

Development

The second album was more melancholy and more serious than the first album. The song Masal ( German: Märchen ) discussed the hanging of Adnan Menderes and Deniz Gezmiş. Another song on the album is the cover version of the classic Sezen Aksu Her Seyi Yak ( German: Burn everything). In 2003, the live album appeared Conser ( German: concert ) that in addition to their own songs also includes cover versions of famous Turkish folk songs. The published in 2004 concert DVD Bu Akşam ( German: Tonight ) was the first music DVD in Turkey. This DVD contains in addition to music videos and photos of the most famous concerts by Duman, which took place on 4 October 2003 in Istanbul. A year later the 3rd album Seni Kendime Sakladım has appeared, which, inter alia, the song Özgürlüğün Ülkesi ( German: Land of Liberty ) includes, criticizing the war in Iraq the Americans with hard punk rock. In Fatih Akin's documentary Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul from 2005 Duman were among the protagonists. In 2008 came a best-of album titled En Güzel Günüm Gecem 1999-2006 ( German: My best day, night) on the market. In the same year came out another live album titled Rock'n Coke Konseri which includes the recording of the performance at the Rock'n Coke Music Festival, which took place in September 2006 in Istanbul. In March 2009, Duman their fourth studio album, which is a double album, and the title Duman Duman I and II wears.
