Dumitru Ghiaţă

Dumitru Ghiata ( born September 22, 1888 in Colibasi, Circle Mehedinţi; † July 3, 1972 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian artist.

Biography

At the beginning of the 20th century, the painting was more of a hobby than a real option to be able to feed themselves for Ghiata. He sympathized more with science and was about 1908 to Bucharest to continue their education over there. Only through its local Professor Cantacuzino Ghiata was recommended to devote himself rather to the art, as his paintings were attracted.

By Artur Verona, he received extensive training in the field of drawing, 1913 Ghiata accompanied his teacher for a short time even to Paris. At the Parisian institutions that he attended, learned Ghiata know the Post-Impressionism that greatly influenced his later works. He drew mainly landscapes and still life these days.
