Dump truck

(Also known as dumpers ) dump trucks are mostly off-road utility vehicles for the transport of dissolved soil or from loose bulk materials. The term of the dump truck is also used for trailers and other vehicles which are used in agriculture and construction. In the period after the Second World War was the " front tipper " often found on construction sites.

The two-lane heavy motor vehicles ( SKW ) with a large dump body are used for the removal of overburden material, especially in quarries, gravel pits, coal mines, Erztagebauen or underground mining. Because of their dimensions and weights for road use of these vehicles is not possible.

Well-known manufacturers of large dump trucks are Astra, BelAZ, Bell Equipment, Caterpillar, Euclid, Hitachi, Liebherr, Komatsu, Doosan ( the Norwegian Dumpers Moxy the company took over ), Perlini, Scania, Terex and Volvo. Smaller dumpers for use on construction sites are produced, among others, AUSA, Wacker Neuson, JCB, Weber and Yanmar.
