Dun Dornaigil

Dun Dornaigil (also called Dornadilla ) is a Broch in the county of Sutherland in the middle of the Scottish Highlands. It lies just to the south of Loch Hope in Alltnacaillich.

The main wall is only above the entrance still 6.7 meters high while the rest is still only about 2.4 m high. Above the entrance is a huge triangle fall. The interior of the high wall portion has collapsed, and a concrete pillars supporting the facade. Reason for the collapse is that the broch was built at the edge of a river terrace above the Strathmore, the meandered and shifted its course over the centuries.
