The Dunagiri is a 7066 m high mountain in the western Himalayas. It belongs to the region of Garhwal in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and is located in Nanda Devi National Park.

Location

The Dunagiri located on the northwestern end of the so-called Sanctuary Wall, an almost annular ridge around the Nanda Devi, in the Nanda Devi National Park.

Climbing history

The Dunagiri was climbed by Europeans first on July 5, 1939 by the Swiss mountaineers André Roch, Fritz Steuri and David Zogg on the southwest flank. 1975 succeeded Joe Tasker and Dick Renshaw to conquer the most difficult Southeast pillar in alpine style. In 1978 he was climbed for the fourth time by participants of the first Australian Himalayan expedition across the south-west ridge.
