Duncan Jones (rugby player)

Duncan Jones ( born September 18, 1978 in Neath, Neath Port Talbot ) is a Welsh rugby union player who is used to the position of the pillar. He is part of the Welsh national team and for the Ospreys active. Despite his stature, he is one of the most versatile players at his position.

Jones was in 2001 against Australia, his debut for the national team and was up to the 2003 World Cup steady member of the team. He was also nominated for the World Cup squad and was in all games to root formation, until he broke an ankle against Italy. This injury put him a few weeks repealed, but in the following Six Nations, he was able to participate again. A year later, Wales won the Grand Slam at this tournament, but Jones was once again injured. He came back again strengthened and their outstanding achievements, he was awarded the captaincy, which he took over during the summer tour to Argentina. Even with the Ospreys he had meanwhile been appointed captain and led them to the championship title in the Magners League.

At the 2007 World Championships Jones belonged to the Welsh squad, but played only one game from the start. Even with the Six Nations, he lost his place to Gethin Jenkins after two games. In the deciding match against France he came to his 50th appearance for Wales. Due to an injury he was unable to attend the Six Nations 2009.

Because of his hairstyle, he is referred to, together with his team-mate Adam Rhys Jones as "Hair Bears".
