Duncan McNeil

Duncan McNeil ( born September 7, 1950 in Greenock ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Life

McNeil was educated at a shipyard for boilermakers. From 1981 he worked for the GMB union. He continued his education and eventually became regional coordinator of the union.

Political career

In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 McNeil first came to elections at the national level. He applied for the direct mandate of the constituency of Greenock and Inverclyde and could well ahead of the candidate of the Liberal Democrats, Ross Finnie, win. In Parliament, he served as cheerleader of the Labour Group. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 McNeil defended his position .. In 2011 he again received the mandate of Greenock and Inverclyde, but he defended it despite a slight vocal profits just ahead of the SNP candidate Stuart McMillan.
