Dungeonquest

Dragon Stronghold is a fantasy board game from Dan Glimne and Jacob Bonz.

The game was released in 1985 in Sweden as Drakborgen the Swedish game company Alga, which was taken shortly before the toy manufacturer Brio. Alga brought in 1987 a Danish version as Drageborgen and a Norwegian version as Skatten i borrow out. In the same year an English version appeared as Dungeon Quest in the British games manufacturer Games Workshop. Schmidt games then brought a German version out in 1990 as Dragon Stronghold.

Content and Accessories

In addition to the 70 x 50 cm large game board and the four plastic playing pieces, some of which enjoy different talents, as is customary in pen & paper role-playing games, the game box contains 81 parts of the room and 70 room cards. In addition, there are a total of 98 other cards that are used for treasure hunting, for Türeöffnen or fighting, as well as for the representation of traps, monsters and treasures. 2 dice 7 wooden marker and 7 ring illustrations complement the material.

Description

It is a fantasy board game with a variable game board. One to four players guide their character through a dungeon ( dungeon, dungeon ), where they threatened by all manner of monsters and traps, collect as many treasures and the dungeon will leave alive. They shall have 26 rounds available. In each round, the sun stone is advanced by one hour. When the sun goes down, dies anyone who did not make it to the exit. Every time a player wants to enter a new room, he must draw a card room, to determine what is in this room. The greatest treasures are of course in the of a dragon guarding treasure. From there it is, however, a long way back to the exit. The chances of achieving the treasury and survive are below 50%.

Special

Where a character on a monster, he may choose to fight or flee. The battle is being fought on the principle of, Rock Paper Scissors game, and for loss of the players life points will be deducted, which is represented by the wooden marker on the character sheets. One character, the elf can even deal with the bow.

Unlike a pen & paper role-playing game, the individual, however, has almost no freedom of action in Dragon Stronghold. The cards will largely determine the fate. Sometimes the game has already ended early when a space no escape is possible.

Extensions

Alga brought in 1987 as an extension Drakborgen II out. Games Workshop split their on this extension and then brought these as extensions Heroes for Dungeon Quest ( 1987) and Dungeon Quest: Catacombs (1988 ) out.

Reprints

2011, the game under the title Dungeon Quest was re- launched in English with Fantasy Flight Games and the same English title Heidelberger game publisher.
