Description

The Summer House Dunmore Pineapple is located in the southeast of Dunmore Park. It was built in 1761 at the behest of John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore. There was a two-story, rectangular building with Harl plastered facades. On the north façade, facing the gardens, jumps centrally produced a classical loggia. Upstairs windows are arranged on both sides of each of the three vertical axes. It sits a pineapple -shaped dome that Murray had to add around 1771. The period marked his return from North America, where he had acted as governor of the colony of Virginia. The supplement should symbolize and emphasize his return to Dunmore. At the base of the dome gotisierte window run.

In the 1970s, the building was described as run down. It was placed in public care and restored. Today Pineapple apartments are furnished in Dunmore.
