The Durack River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is located in the Kimberley region.

Geography

The river rises on the southern end of the Durack Ranges and then flows along the western side of the Blue Face Ranges to the north. West of the ghost town Durack River, he crossed the Gibb River Road and turn its course to the northeast. Shortly before the mouth of the Pentecost River in the western arm of Cambridge Gulf, he opens Durack River in the Pentecost River.

Origin of the name

The river was named in 1882 by surveyor John Pentecost after the pioneer of Kimberley Michael Durack. He was the chief Pentecosts and the first European to cross the river.
