Dürener Jazztage

The Duerener Jazz Days are an event in the city of Düren in North Rhine -Westphalia, occur during the five days of jazz bands at various stages of the city. The first Düren Jazz Festival took place in 1961-1968. A new edition began in 1991. Since 1994, is the artistic director of the annual festival Düren Nicholas Bellgardt from Düren Jazz Club.

Local bands and international figures of jazz and world music come from Wednesday to Sunday at various stages on. As highlights the two main concerts on the imperial court and the " Pub Crawl " on Saturday, when many restaurants offer free live music in the city and by 2009 the Jazz Parade apply. Another highlight is the great final concert of Düren Jazz Festival in Christ Church of the Evangelical Church of Düren.

The Jazz Parade was organized in 2004 for the first time on an idea by Rolf Giebel. With the last edition of Jazz Parade in 2009 it has grown to nearly 1,000 participants to the greatest jazz parade of its kind in Europe. About 10,000 spectators lined the parade every year the flyway. Jazz bands, steel bands, samba dancers, Dixie and country bands snaked in a parade through the city center.
