Geography
The community Durnten is divided into four geographically separated from each other hamlets: Tann, Durnten, Oberdürnten and Breitenmatt.
Population
Since 2005, the foreign resident population has stopped in the town at around 15 percent.
Tann, with over 3,000 inhabitants, the largest village of the municipality. Next follows Oberdürnten with Breitenmatt and Durnten.
Religion
December 31, 2011 consisted of 40.2 % of the population of the Evangelical Reformed Church, and 26.7 % to the Roman Catholic Church.
In the regional section of the Evangelical Alliance are in the Durnten Tann and the gathering churches, the Evangelical Reformed Church and the Methodist Church there.

The only supermarket Tann is the privately run Frischmärt Gabriel. In the village there is a part Durnten Volg branch and a branch - Landi. In Oberdürnten a small village shop is also performed, which belongs to the family Klöti. Only the width Matt offers no shopping.

The municipality owns next to major thoroughfares with a connection to the Oberland motorway ( A53 ) towards Zurich and Rapperswil.
Above Breitenmatt is the airfield Hasenstrick ( ICAO code LSPK ), but it includes only a grass runway.
Public transportation
At Tanner Station runs every hour S 26 Winterthur HB - Bauma - Rüti the S-Bahn Zurich.

School
In the community Durnten There are five primary school buildings, as well as the Oberstufenschulhaus Nauen, which is located in Tann.
