The breakpoint Dusseldorf Zoo is located about two kilometers north of the Central Station in Düsseldorf Düsseltal district. It is located on the railway line between Cologne and Duisburg and belongs to the train station category 4 By the definition of EBO Dusseldorf Zoo is no railway station, but a breakpoint.

History

Also located on what is now Franklin Bridge only a few meters further west was since 1889 the station Dusseldorf -Derendorf the Rhenish Railway Company (not to be confused with the now existent elsewhere S- Bahn station Dusseldorf - Their village) and later the freight station Dusseldorf - Their village.

Next to the station and the main railway Bilk this was one of Düsseldorf's then three stations. Located in the grounds of the freight station opened in 1887 Their village, ended up there during the First World War, many hospital trains, as the wounded could be brought low with converted tramcar in the urban hospitals.

The breakpoint Dusseldorf - Their village was built in 1936 to its present location at the Munster Road. Below the Franklin bridge the existing breakpoint Dusseldorf today emerged only in 1967 with the introduction of the network of S- Bahn Rhein -Ruhr Zoo. The present name is reminiscent of the 1876-1943 located near the Zoological Garden Dusseldorf.

Location

The breakpoint is located in a central location between the districts of Dusseldorf Dusseldorf - and - Duesseltal PEMPELFORT. It has a central platform next to the Franklin Bridge, on the trams cross the railway premises, with access from there.

Lines

The breakpoint is served by three lines of the S- Bahn Rhein -Ruhr. On the Franklin bridge the tram line stops 706 Rheinbahn.
