Dutse

Dutse is the capital of the Nigerian state of Jigawa and is located in the northern part of Nigeria. One calculation according to the 2012, the city has 39.265 inhabitants. This makes it the fourth largest city in Jigawa after Hadejia, Birnin Kudu and Gumel.

The hilly area around Dutse is covered by savanna. Dutse was on 12 December 1991 the capital of the newly founded state of Jigawa.

Dutse and its surroundings are one of the 27 Local Government Areas ( LGA) of the state of Jigawa with an area of ​​1099.15 km ². At the last census in 1991, the LGA had 138 452 inhabitants, which has a population density of 126 inhabitants per km ².
