Duved, Sweden

Duved is a town in the municipality of Åre in the Swedish province of Jämtland County, lies at an altitude of 400 meters. Overall, living in an area of 95 hectares 663 inhabitants ( 2010). North of Duved dominates the 1031.10 -meter-high Mullfjället up, south of the Indalsälven flows along.

History

Beginning of August 1718 began Duved from a campaign of Carl Gustaf Armfeldts Karolinern with the aim to take Trondheim. On the campaign participated in a total of 10073 people. This campaign failed. On the withdrawal of Tydal after Duved the army came on New Year's 1718/1719 in a snow storm, and some 3,000 people froze to death between Tydal and hand oil through the mountains.

The ski area

Together with the nearby villages east of Duved Tegefjäll, Åre and Björnen forms Duved the ski resort of Åre, one of the largest ski resorts in Sweden. It is calmer than in Åre in Duved and there are many holiday homes, hotels for less.

Alpine

Duved and Tegefjäll together have a total of 11 ski lifts and 27 ski runs. A continuous lift and slopes connection to Åre does not exist due to the high plateau between the Mullfjället and the Åreskutan. For ski buses. The Hamrelift is also open in the evenings a week ( 2013) twice. The first ski lifts were built Duveds 1962. Tegefjäll was expanded in 1986 and 1988, the ski lift systems Duved and Tegefjäll were interconnected.

Cross-country skiing

In Duved there are groomed trails with lengths from 2.5 to 15 kilometers of which are illuminated in the evening. There is also the possibility to do ski tours along marked trails, for example, on the Mullfjället or after Ullådalen.

Infrastructure

On the northern outskirts of the village, the European Route 14 runs from Ostersund to Trondheim. Duved by a railway station from where there are regular trains to Trondheim, Ostersund, Stockholm and southern Sweden. Duved has a school that goes from kindergarten to 9th grade. The catchment area of the school extends to the countries along the Norwegian border towns Storlien and Skalstugan.

Attractions

Duved has a wooden church in the Gothic Revival style from the year 1894. During the two- kilometers west of Duved collection of houses situated Duvedsbyn a memorial, the Karolinermonument to the disaster of New Year 1718/1719. Few meters away are the remains of Duved skans. This was from 1658 to 1809 with a base shelters the Kompanie.10 kilometers northwest of Duved is the Tännforsen, Sweden's largest waterfall.
